This book is basically an adventure story in a science fiction setting. The science fiction element is not too overwhelming, but inescapably part of the story.
The setting is a somewhat "primative" world and the main characters are into camping, hiking, and "outdoor stuff". The main characters are 3 highschool-aged boys at the beginning of the story. Because of time differential involved (that sci-fi element), they are grown before the story ends.
The story incorporates basic Christian beliefs as well as casual nudism, which some readers may find challenging at first. There is no overt sex, and what little violence is mentioned is downplayed.
